In a significant move towards healing divisions, Muslim and Jewish leaders gathered at the ‘Together We Rebuild’ summit in London. This event aims to address the rising antisemitism and anti-Muslim sentiment exacerbated by the recent conflict in Gaza and the October 7 attacks. Imam Dr Qari Asim and Phil Rosenberg led discussions on fostering understanding and collaboration between their communities.

The summit highlights the urgent need for dialogue, as both leaders emphasized that the ongoing conflict in the Middle East should not dictate the future of community relations in Britain. Dr Asim noted that the past few years have been marked by suffering and suspicion, urging both communities to navigate their disagreements with courage and compassion.

Rosenberg echoed these sentiments, warning against allowing polarised narratives to erode empathy and deepen divisions. He stressed that every act of hatred diminishes the fabric of British society, calling for a collective effort to export peace rather than conflict.

Government representatives, including Secretary of State for Communities Steve Reed, reinforced the commitment to ensuring that all individuals can live and express their faith freely. This summit marks a pivotal step in rebuilding trust and understanding, crucial for the future of interfaith relations in the UK.
