Ebola, known for its severe symptoms and high fatality rates, spreads through direct contact with bodily fluids and is not airborne like influenza or COVID-19. The worker will remain isolated for the duration of the Ebola incubation period, which can last from two to 21 days.
Currently, there are no confirmed Ebola cases in the UK, but the recent outbreak in the DRC has raised concerns due to its severity. The World Health Organization has noted over 2,400 confirmed cases since mid-May, with a significant number of deaths.
