Concerns Rise Over Holiday Cabins Attracting Party Groups

Plans to build holiday cabins near Newtown, Powys, have sparked concerns from the local community about potential noise disturbances. The Aberhafesp community council fears that the cabins could attract stag and hen parties, leading to disruptive behaviour in the area.

The application, submitted by Tyler Richards, proposes four one-bed cabins on land south of Bwlch-y-Ffridd. Local councillors have questioned how the site would be managed and have requested conditions to prevent group bookings if the application is approved.

Despite these concerns, Rhian Griffiths, a senior planning officer, indicated that the application complies with planning policy. She stated that restricting bookings to avoid larger groups does not meet the necessary criteria for imposing conditions.

Supporters of the cabins argue that they will enhance local tourism and provide sustainable use of land. However, the community remains apprehensive about the implications for their quiet neighbourhood, highlighting a tension between economic development and local quality of life.
