As low water levels expose hidden hazards, swimmers are being warned to stay away from Keepers Pond in Abergavenny. The prolonged dry weather, coupled with water usage for firefighting, has led to dangerously low levels in the pond, revealing objects that pose serious safety risks.

Bannau Brycheiniog National Park officials have issued a safety warning, stating that the pond is a protected scheduled monument. Visitors are urged not to disturb or remove any objects uncovered by the receding water, highlighting the importance of respecting the natural environment.

While the car park remains open for visitors, the park has made it clear that entering the water is strictly prohibited for safety reasons. This situation serves as a reminder of the potential dangers that can arise from environmental changes, particularly during prolonged dry spells.

As climate patterns shift, such incidents may become more common, prompting a need for increased awareness and safety measures at popular outdoor spots. The community is encouraged to stay informed and vigilant about the risks associated with low water levels.
