Three suspected World War II explosive devices were found on Drigg beach in Cumbria, prompting a swift response from bomb disposal experts. This area, known for its hazardous remnants from the past, has seen multiple similar discoveries recently, highlighting ongoing safety risks for beachgoers and locals.

The beach is located just seven miles from the Sellafield nuclear site, raising concerns about the potential for more dangerous finds in the vicinity. The presence of unexploded ordnance not only poses immediate threats but also affects local tourism and recreational activities, as visitors may be deterred from enjoying the beach due to safety fears.

In addition to the explosive devices, the coastguard has also dealt with hazardous plants like Hemlock Water Dropwort, which can be fatal. This dual threat of unexploded ordnance and poisonous flora underscores the need for increased public awareness and safety measures in the area.

Authorities urge anyone who encounters suspicious objects to avoid them and report their location using the What3Words app. As these discoveries continue, the community must remain vigilant and informed to prevent accidents and ensure safety on the beach.
