New Airline Launches with Routes from London

Riyadh Air is set to launch this July, offering new travel options between London and Saudi Arabia. This new airline, which has been in the works since 2023, aims to enhance connectivity between Europe and the Middle East, a vital transit hub for travellers heading to Africa and Asia.

With daily flights already operating between Riyadh and London Heathrow, Riyadh Air plans to expand its network significantly, targeting over 100 destinations by 2030. This expansion could provide UK travellers with more choices and competitive pricing, especially as the airline enters codeshare agreements with major carriers like Air France and Virgin Atlantic.

However, potential travellers should be aware of the current travel advisories from the UK Foreign Office, which recommend avoiding all but essential travel to certain areas in Saudi Arabia due to regional tensions. This could impact travel plans and safety considerations for those looking to explore the growing tourism opportunities in the country.

As Saudi Arabia positions itself as a burgeoning tourist destination, with attractions like the UNESCO-listed At-Turaif district, the launch of Riyadh Air could reshape travel patterns for UK residents. The airline’s entry into the market may also influence existing airlines, prompting them to adjust their services and pricing strategies in response to increased competition.
