Police in County Antrim are investigating two incidents of graffiti that occurred on Sunday, which are being treated as sectarian hate crimes. The graffiti was found outside an Orange Hall and a GAA club in Rasharkin, raising concerns about community tensions in the area.

The Grand Orange Lodge of Ireland condemned the attacks, highlighting that such incidents are unfortunately common during this time of year. They called for tolerance and respect for all cultural expressions, emphasizing that attacks on property are unjustifiable.

St Mary’s Rasharkin GAC expressed disappointment over the graffiti, noting that their club promotes inclusivity for all backgrounds. The club’s statement reflects a broader concern about the impact of sectarianism on community cohesion, especially as young people engage in sports and activities.

As investigations continue, police are appealing for witnesses to come forward. The outcomes of these inquiries could influence community relations and highlight the ongoing challenges of sectarianism in Northern Ireland, reminding residents of the importance of unity and respect.
