Uzbekistan’s special economic zones are rapidly transforming the country’s manufacturing landscape, attracting significant foreign investment. With industrial production in these zones surging by 42.7% in the first nine months of 2025, the government is keen to expand infrastructure to meet international demand. This growth not only boosts local economies but also positions Uzbekistan as a key player in regional logistics, linking Europe, Asia, and the Middle East.
The Navoi Free Economic Zone exemplifies this trend, hosting over 90 projects and creating thousands of jobs. As it develops into a multimodal transport hub, Navoi aims to compete with established logistics centres in the UAE and Kazakhstan. This strategic focus on logistics is crucial for enhancing trade routes and attracting more international businesses.
Similarly, the Tashkent region has become a hotspot for foreign manufacturers, particularly from China and Russia, with ongoing negotiations with Japanese and Korean investors. This influx of foreign enterprises is expected to create more jobs and increase industrial output, further solidifying Uzbekistan’s role in global supply chains.
Additionally, the Termez International Trade Center is emerging as a vital commercial gateway, especially for trade with Afghanistan. By facilitating easier access to regional markets, these developments signal a shift in Uzbekistan’s economic strategy, focusing on sustainable growth and international collaboration.
