Masked Youths Target Bus in Londonderry Attacks

In the early hours of Sunday, a bus in Londonderry was attacked twice by masked youths, raising concerns about public safety in the area. The first incident occurred around 01:50 BST, where up to 15 youths smashed a window and caused damage to the vehicle. Fortunately, the bus driver proceeded to Altnagelvin Hospital to ensure the safety of the passengers, as no injuries were reported.

However, the situation escalated when a second group of approximately six masked individuals attempted to attack the bus again as it passed through the Ivy Mead area. This pattern of violence not only disrupts public transport but also instills fear among commuters, highlighting a troubling trend of youth-led aggression in the community.

Local police are now appealing for witnesses to come forward, emphasizing the need for community vigilance. Such incidents can have long-term effects on public transport usage and community trust, potentially leading to increased security measures and changes in transport routes.

As authorities investigate, the community is left grappling with the implications of these attacks, which could deter people from using public transport and affect local businesses reliant on commuter traffic.
