Recent discoveries from fossilised dinosaur excrement have revealed exceptionally preserved bird feathers, shedding light on the mystery of avian survival during the mass extinction event 66 million years ago. Found in Montana’s Hell Creek Formation, these feathers belonged to a Hesperornithiform, an extinct diving bird, and provide insight into the evolutionary traits that may have influenced survival rates among ancient birds.
