Beretta Defense Technologies is set to showcase its latest innovation, the Livet anti-drone system, at the Eurosatory defence show in Paris. This automated weapon station features eight Benelli “Drone Guardian” shotguns mounted in a remote-controlled turret, designed to counter drone threats effectively. With capabilities like target auto-tracking and rapid response, the Livet aims to protect critical infrastructure and strategic assets.

The rise of drone warfare has transformed modern combat, as seen in conflicts like the war in Ukraine, where low-cost drones have been used for precision strikes. This has prompted nations to accelerate the development of anti-drone technologies, highlighting a growing need for robust defence systems. The Livet system, equipped with advanced AI tracking, can autonomously identify and engage targets, making it a significant advancement in military technology.

As drone usage continues to proliferate, the implications for national security are profound. The introduction of systems like Livet could reshape defence strategies, particularly in the UK, where concerns over drone surveillance and attacks are increasing. The Eurosatory show, taking place from June 15 to 19, will gather key military and defence industry figures, further underscoring the urgency of addressing drone threats.

For the average UK citizen, this development may seem distant, but it reflects a broader trend of increasing military preparedness against emerging threats. As defence technologies evolve, the potential for enhanced security measures could impact public safety and national defence policies in the future.
