Bournemouth University is set to launch new defence technology courses, thanks to a £2.8 million investment from the Ministry of Defence. These courses aim to equip students with essential skills in national security and cyber defence, addressing the growing need for expertise in these critical areas.
Starting in September, the Cyber Defence Intelligence and Autonomous Systems courses will provide students with hands-on experience in realistic settings. A dedicated centre at the MoD’s BattleLab will simulate cyber threats, while a new lab on campus will focus on advancements in drone technology and autonomous systems, including AI applications.
This initiative not only prepares graduates for in-demand careers but also strengthens the UK’s defence capabilities. By focusing on emerging technologies, the university aims to ensure that students can effectively contribute to national resilience and tackle strategic challenges facing the country.
As part of a broader initiative, Bournemouth University is one of 24 institutions receiving funding to enhance defence-related education, reflecting a significant investment in the future of the UK’s security landscape.
