Electric vehicle (EV) drivers in the UK are set to benefit significantly from a new initiative by Motor Fuel Group (MFG), which has announced a 25% price cut on ultra-rapid charging. This discount, effective from July 1 until September 30, 2026, will reduce the cost to 59p per kWh, saving drivers approximately £6 on a typical charge. This move positions MFG as one of the most affordable options for public EV charging in the country.
The initiative comes at a time when many motorists are planning summer trips, making it easier and cheaper to charge their vehicles on the go. With over 2,000 MFG EV Power charging bays across nearly 600 locations, drivers can quickly recharge their EVs, adding up to 100 miles of range in just 10 minutes. This convenience is crucial for encouraging more drivers to switch to electric vehicles.
MFG’s commitment to expanding its charging infrastructure includes a pledge of over £400 million to enhance its network. The company aims to install more than 3,000 ultra-rapid chargers by 2030, which will further support the growing demand for EVs. Additionally, the absence of subscription fees and the option to pay via contactless methods streamline the charging experience for users.
As the UK pushes towards greener transport solutions, this discount not only makes electric driving more accessible but also highlights the increasing competition among charging providers. The long-term implications could lead to lower prices across the board, making electric vehicles a more attractive option for everyday drivers.
