Sir Sean Connery’s family is set to establish a new filmmaking centre in Edinburgh, named the NFTS Sean Connery Institute, in collaboration with the National Film and Television School. This initiative aims to nurture the next generation of Scottish film and TV talent, providing essential training and opportunities to those who may lack access.
The institute is expected to become a permanent home for the NTFS, offering masterclasses, screenings, and events that will foster creativity and professional development. Connery’s family emphasises their father’s belief that while talent is widespread, opportunities are not, highlighting their commitment to fairness and hard work.
Scheduled to open within the next 18 months, this centre represents a significant investment in Scotland’s film industry, aligning with the values Connery cherished. The Sean Connery Foundation, established in 2022, has already been active in supporting emerging talent through various programs, including the Sean Connery Talent Lab.
