Girlguiding has introduced its first major uniform redesign in over 30 years, aiming to enhance self-expression among its members. The new approach allows members to wear a top from the redesigned range with their own trousers, promoting individuality while maintaining a sense of belonging to the organisation.
The updated uniform features 30 clothing items and 15 accessories, designed with input from thousands of Guides, Rainbows, Brownies, and Rangers. This feedback highlighted a strong desire for choice and personal style, leading to a collection that balances practicality, comfort, and sustainability.
Notable design elements include hidden pockets, thumb holes, and badge sashes that double as cross-body bags, reflecting modern needs. Prices start at £12 for a T-shirt, making the new range accessible while encouraging members to express their unique identities.
Importantly, members can continue wearing the old uniform until they need a replacement, easing the transition. This thoughtful redesign not only updates the look but also reinforces the values of empowerment and individuality within Girlguiding, resonating with the preferences of today’s youth.
