Ten individuals were hospitalised after being trapped in severe traffic on the M25 for over eight hours due to a major crash. As temperatures soared towards 40°C, many drivers experienced heat-related illnesses, prompting emergency services to respond to multiple calls for assistance.

The incident highlights the vulnerabilities of road infrastructure during extreme weather events. With a record-breaking heatwave affecting the UK, the lack of immediate support for stranded motorists raises concerns about emergency preparedness on major routes.

Passengers reported dire conditions, with some running low on water and others suffering from heat exhaustion. The situation escalated to the point where local MPs called for urgent action, emphasising the need for protocols to provide water and medical assistance in such emergencies.

As climate change continues to increase the frequency of extreme weather, this incident serves as a warning about the potential for similar occurrences in the future, affecting not only health but also transport and emergency response systems across the country.
