A British mother, Nishika Samaratunga, has been on the run in the UK for over three months after failing to return her two sons, Blaine and Nathaniel, to their American father, Ben Baier. The children, who were in the UK for court-ordered contact, have not been seen since March 29, raising serious concerns about their welfare and well-being.
Mr Baier, who has initiated High Court proceedings to secure their return, fears for the boys’ health as they are not attending school or receiving necessary medical care. Both children have autism, making their abrupt separation from their established routines particularly damaging.
The Colorado court had previously ruled that Mr Baier should be the primary custodial parent, and it had ordered that the children remain in the state. However, Ms Samaratunga’s actions have led to a situation where the children are considered to be in imminent danger, prompting legal authorities to take action.
The High Court has allowed the publication of details to aid in locating the children, and various companies have been ordered to assist in tracing Ms Samaratunga. The urgency of the situation highlights the emotional and physical risks faced by the children, as every day they remain missing increases the concern for their safety.
