Transport for London (TfL) has initiated a consultation for a new Overground train line that would connect Hendon to Hounslow, enhancing access to Old Oak Common, a key hub for HS2 services. This proposed line would utilise existing freight tracks, marking a significant shift in how rail infrastructure is used in the capital.
The new route, spanning 18.5 km, aims to improve connectivity across west and northwest London, linking various communities and potentially stimulating local economic growth. Stations along the route would include Brent Cross West, Neasden, and Acton Central, among others, providing much-needed transport options in these areas.
This consultation, running until November 18, 2026, invites public feedback, allowing residents to influence the development of this transport project. TfL’s Director of Investment Planning emphasised the importance of community input in shaping the future of London’s rail network.
If approved, this Overground line could significantly alter daily commuting patterns, reduce congestion on existing services, and enhance access to HS2, ultimately benefiting both local residents and the broader transport ecosystem in London.
