Starting July 6, new parking restrictions for motorhomes will be enforced in Saltburn, aimed at balancing the needs of residents and visitors. Motorhomes will be limited to marked bays on the north side of Marine Parade, with a maximum stay of four hours during the day. This change comes in response to concerns about long-term parking during the busy summer season, which has frustrated local residents.
The restrictions will not completely ban overnight parking but will limit where and how long motorhomes can stay. After 5pm and all day on Sundays, parking will be unrestricted, providing some flexibility for motorhome owners. However, unmarked sections will be off-limits at all times, marked by single yellow lines.
Residents living nearby will be eligible for parking permits, allowing them to park without time limits in the designated bays. This initiative reflects the council’s commitment to addressing community feedback while ensuring that parking spaces remain available for both locals and tourists.
The trial period will allow the council to monitor the impact of these changes, with the potential for adjustments based on feedback from residents and visitors. This could set a precedent for similar measures in other coastal towns facing parking challenges.
