Police Seize £3.7m Ferrari in Major Crackdown on Antisocial Driving

In a significant operation against antisocial driving in central London, police seized a rare Ferrari Monza SP2 valued at approximately £3.7 million. This vehicle, one of only 499 ever produced, was stopped just a day after arriving in the UK. The driver, holding only a provisional licence and lacking insurance, highlights a growing concern over the misuse of high-value cars in urban areas.

The Metropolitan Police’s weekend operation resulted in the confiscation of 90 vehicles worth over £8 million, marking the highest total in five years. Officers targeted not only uninsured drivers but also those engaging in dangerous driving practices, responding to community complaints about reckless behaviour.

The crackdown reflects a broader strategy to enhance road safety and deter antisocial behaviour, particularly in affluent areas like Kensington and Chelsea. The operation also led to multiple arrests, including one for handling stolen goods and money laundering, indicating a potential link between luxury vehicles and criminal activity.

As luxury cars become more prevalent on UK roads, this operation serves as a warning to owners about the legal responsibilities that come with high-value vehicles. The police’s proactive approach may reshape how luxury car owners engage with their vehicles, potentially leading to stricter adherence to driving regulations.
