Tens of thousands gathered in Prague for the annual Pride parade, celebrating LGBTQ+ rights with the theme “Times are changing.” The event, which is part of a week-long festival, aimed to raise awareness of ongoing struggles for equality in the Czech Republic.
Participants observed a minute of silence for victims of a recent attack at a similar event in Berlin, highlighting the risks faced by the LGBTQ+ community. Enhanced security measures were in place, including hundreds of police officers and guidelines for carrying banners to ensure safety.
The parade began at Wenceslas Square and concluded at Stvanice island, featuring a musical program that continued into the night. Despite the presence of counter-demonstrators, police reported no major incidents, indicating a successful and peaceful celebration.
