Serious Incident on British Airways Flight Approaching Heathrow

A British Airways flight from Dusseldorf issued a mayday call while approaching Heathrow Airport due to two stall warnings. This incident, which occurred on July 6, involved an Airbus A320 and has raised significant safety concerns within the aviation community.

The aircraft experienced a data system failure that triggered the initial stall warning. In response, the crew switched to an alternate flight mode, which disables some automated safety features. A second stall warning was issued at just 3,000 feet, indicating a critical situation as the plane neared the airport.

The UK’s Air Accidents Investigation Branch (AAIB) is now investigating the incident, which is classified as serious. While the airline is cooperating with the investigation, it has refrained from further comments due to legal constraints.

Aviation experts highlight that while mayday calls can arise from various situations, this particular case underscores vulnerabilities in aircraft systems that could have dire consequences. The investigation’s findings may lead to changes in safety protocols and aircraft technology to prevent similar incidents in the future.
