A seventh individual has been charged in connection with a case involving two Cardiff teenagers allegedly trafficked to Thailand to smuggle drugs. Carrie-Anne Dreyer, 39, from Llantwit Major, faces serious charges including conspiring to evade a ban on importing a class B drug and arranging travel for exploitation. This case highlights the growing issue of youth exploitation in drug trafficking, raising concerns about the safety of young people abroad.

The teenagers, both 17, were arrested in June after being found with 64kg of cannabis in their luggage. They remain in custody in Thailand, with support from the Foreign and Commonwealth Office. The investigation into how they were lured into this situation is ongoing, and it has already led to six other arrests in the UK.

This incident serves as a stark reminder of the vulnerabilities faced by young people, particularly those from disadvantaged backgrounds. The implications of such trafficking cases extend beyond legal consequences, affecting families and communities back home.

As the legal proceedings unfold, families of the teenagers are seeking answers and support. This case underscores the urgent need for awareness and preventive measures against the exploitation of minors in drug trafficking schemes.
