The incident occurred while he was celebrating his son’s wedding off the coast of Italy on August 16. Found unconscious and face down in the pool, he was airlifted to a Naples hospital where he underwent emergency surgery but remained in critical condition.
After being transferred to the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota, his family learned that some of his injuries were untreatable. Despite the best efforts of medical teams, he passed away on September 4, surrounded by loved ones. His daughter announced his death through a fundraising page set up to assist with medical expenses, expressing gratitude for the support received during this difficult time.
Junker’s life was dedicated to serving others, first as a pharmacist and later as a pastor for nearly a decade. His commitment to his faith and community was evident, as he remained focused on his congregation even during his illness.
