Interestingly, inherited homes are more commonly sold than rented, with 21% of sellers reporting they inherited their property. In contrast, only 12% of landlords rent out inherited homes. The motivations for selling often include personal needs and concerns about tenant issues, while those renting seek steady income.
As the housing crisis continues, the perception of inheritance as a viable path to homeownership may shift.
