Vietnam’s VinSpace has signed a deal with SpaceX to launch its first satellites, marking a significant step in the country’s ambition to develop a robust space industry. This partnership is part of Vietnam’s broader goal to establish itself as a mid-level space power in Southeast Asia by 2030.

The satellites are set to be launched in 2027 as part of SpaceX’s Transporter rideshare program, which allows multiple clients to share the costs of a single rocket launch. This cost-effective approach is crucial for VinSpace, which aims to test technology in orbit and eventually offer commercial satellite services.

VinSpace, established by Vingroup, Vietnam’s largest private conglomerate, is focused on becoming a full-service aerospace company. The company plans to expand its capabilities in satellite design, manufacturing, and operations, contributing to Vietnam’s long-term technological ambitions.

With the opening of a major space science center in Hanoi and the licensing of SpaceX’s Starlink for satellite internet trials, Vietnam is laying the groundwork for a future where space-based technologies play a vital role in its economy and infrastructure.
