New Weight Loss Pill Foundayo Approved in the UK

The UK has become the first European country to approve Foundayo, a new weight loss pill developed by Eli Lilly, known for the Mounjaro jab. This medication is designed to treat obesity and type 2 diabetes by suppressing appetite. However, while it can be prescribed privately, its availability on the NHS is not guaranteed yet.

Foundayo is a GLP-1 medication, similar to Wegovy, which was approved earlier this year. Experts suggest that although its weight-loss effects may be less pronounced than other treatments, it still offers significant benefits. Notably, it is expected to be more affordable than existing options, which could lead to broader access for patients.

Convenience is another advantage of Foundayo, as it can be taken at any time of day, unlike Wegovy, which requires an empty stomach. This flexibility may encourage more individuals to seek treatment, especially those transitioning from weight-loss injections to oral medications.

Clinical trials indicate that users of Foundayo can maintain their weight loss effectively, addressing a common issue faced by those discontinuing GLP-1 injections. As with any medication, potential side effects include nausea and gastrointestinal discomfort, emphasizing the need for a balanced diet and exercise alongside treatment.
