Abubakr Ahmed, a 23-year-old drug dealer, has been sentenced to six years in prison after being caught with a knuckle duster capable of discharging an electrical current. This weapon, along with a significant quantity of heroin and crack cocaine, was discovered during a police raid in Keighley, West Yorkshire. Ahmed operated a drug line known as the ‘Khanny line’, supplying an estimated 2.23kg of drugs worth £223,380 between February and June this year.

The police investigation, part of Operation Phoenix, revealed that Ahmed was deeply involved in the distribution of these dangerous substances, which contribute to serious crime and violence in local communities. The knuckle duster, a prohibited weapon, raises concerns about the increasing use of electrical incapacitation devices among criminals, highlighting a potential shift in the tactics used by drug dealers to protect themselves and their operations.

Ahmed’s claims of being coerced into drug dealing due to personal debts were dismissed by the court, indicating a growing recognition of the need for accountability in drug-related crimes. The case underscores the ongoing battle against county lines drug trafficking, which poses significant challenges for law enforcement and community safety.

As authorities continue to crack down on such operations, the implications for public safety and drug policy are profound. The presence of weapons like the knuckle duster in drug trafficking operations may signal a worrying trend that could escalate violence and complicate efforts to combat drug-related crime in the UK.
