A man has been charged with threatening Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, the former Duke of York, during a dog walk on the Sandringham Estate. Alex Jenkinson, 39, allegedly caused Mountbatten-Windsor to fear unlawful violence on May 6. The trial is scheduled to begin on December 21, with the Duke expected to provide evidence via videolink.

Jenkinson faces accusations of using threatening language and has pleaded not guilty. He is also charged with a similar offence against another individual, Stephen Terry, the day before the incident involving Mountbatten-Windsor. Concerns regarding Jenkinson’s mental health led to a postponement of his initial court appearance.

Currently on conditional bail, Jenkinson is prohibited from approaching several royal residences, including Sandringham and Buckingham Palace. He is also barred from contacting Mountbatten-Windsor directly or indirectly, highlighting the serious nature of the allegations.

This case underscores ongoing concerns about security and mental health issues surrounding public figures, particularly in light of the Duke’s controversial past and his recent relocation due to his association with Jeffrey Epstein. The outcome of this trial could have implications for royal security protocols and public perceptions of the monarchy.
