Concerns Rise Over Discarded Needles in Limavady

Discarded needles found in a Limavady car park have raised alarms about public safety, particularly for children. The Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) confirmed that syringes were removed for disposal after being discovered in the Main Street area. This incident follows a similar finding near a children’s play area in Ballykelly, highlighting a troubling trend of drug paraphernalia being left in public spaces.

Local resident Jordan Wallace expressed concern, stating that such behaviour is unacceptable and poses risks to the community. The PSNI has warned that improperly discarded needles can be dangerous, especially for young children who might unknowingly come across them. They are increasing patrols to combat drug-related issues in the area.

The presence of these needles not only endangers public health but also reflects broader societal challenges related to drug use and addiction. As communities grapple with these issues, the need for effective solutions becomes more pressing.

Local authorities, including Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council, are being urged to address this growing problem. The community is calling for more awareness and preventive measures to ensure public safety and discourage drug misuse.
