Transport for London (TfL) and Boldyn Networks have announced a significant upgrade to mobile connectivity across the London Underground, with 60% of stations now equipped with 4G and 5G coverage. This enhancement means that millions of commuters can now stay connected while traveling beneath the city, allowing them to check live travel updates, send messages, and browse the internet without interruption.

The rollout is set to continue, with full coverage expected by the end of 2026. Key lines such as the Bakerloo, Metropolitan, and District will see expanded connectivity, enabling users to make calls and access data even while in transit through tunnels. This is particularly beneficial for busy commuters who rely on their devices for work and communication.

Moreover, the improved network will also support emergency services, providing first responders with crucial access to data during underground emergencies. This integration highlights the importance of reliable connectivity not just for convenience, but for public safety as well.

As major transport hubs like Paddington and Victoria begin to receive coverage, the investment in digital infrastructure is poised to enhance the overall travel experience in London, making it one of the best-connected cities globally. This upgrade reflects a growing trend towards prioritizing digital access in public transport systems, which could influence future urban planning and infrastructure projects.
