Police in Dungannon, County Tyrone, are investigating a violent incident involving a group of men armed with bats and knives. Reports indicate that up to ten individuals were involved in an altercation that resulted in property damage and injuries. One man required hospital treatment for cuts to his hands and face after being assaulted during the chaos.
The disturbance began on Killyman Road, where windows were smashed and a front door was damaged. In response, police arrested a 32-year-old man on suspicion of criminal damage, while two others, aged 32 and 35, were detained for assault. The situation escalated later in the evening when officers encountered a large group of men in the Newell Road area, prompting further arrests.
DUP assembly member Deborah Erskine expressed her concerns over the rising tensions in the community, urging police to take decisive action to restore safety. She condemned the violence and intimidation, stating that such behaviour has no place in Dungannon.
As the investigation continues, the community remains on edge, highlighting the urgent need for measures to address public safety and prevent further incidents of this nature.
